Mini JCW, an acronym for Mini John Cooper Works, is more than just a car; it's an embodiment of speed, style, and sophistication. When we say 'Mini,' you might be picturing a compact, city-friendly car. Add 'JCW' to it, and you're visualizing a monster hiding in a compact body, ready to unleash its power on the road. Hailing from a lineage of innovation and classic British design. Mini JCW models are a testament to the seamless marriage of history and future, performance, and elegance.

Having spent considerable time with the Mini JCW F56 previously, it's always great to have another up on the dyno, as we already know we can generate some pretty decent numbers. The owner of this one had some really unique styling and we're really interested to keep following his journey and see what mods could be next, holding testament to the uniqueness of what it is to be a John Cooper Works. For now, it's time to install our chip tuning box and create some impressive gains...

If you take a look at the dyno graph from this stock run below, you'll see that Mini are pretty bang on with what they quote for this JCW F56. Bang on the mark for power claims, coming in at 231PS. Not far off on torque either with stock figures showing 335Nm, against 320Nm of what Mini claim. It's great to see some consistency from their claims here.

Now let’s see what we can achieve with our box…

Dyno testing before and after shows healthy gains across the rev range, with a significant increase in power and torque, really transforming how this JCW feels to drive.

Peak power was increased, as we were able to lift it from 231ps at stock, up to 281ps with the box. If you take a look at the dyno graph here, you can really see how we change that curve. Giving a much healthier delivery throughout the rev range, bringing the gains in as soon as possible and holding across the entire range.

Torque figures with our box is also greatly improved. At stock the engine produced 335Nm, and now 400Nm with the box. Again, taking a look at the graph you can really see the lift in that curve. We take care to evenly distribute the gains here, as the JCW uses a front-wheel drive system, and focusing too much in a certain part of the revs could have a detrimental effect on performance.
