AdBlue Repair

The AdBlue system is a type of emission control system used in your car or van's Diesel engine. Its purpose is to reduce NOx (oxides of nitrogen) emissions. It works by injecting a urea-based solution called AdBlue into the exhaust system, which then reacts with the NOx in the exhaust gas to convert it into nitrogen gas and water vapor.

The AdBlue system consists of several components, including:

1. AdBlue tank: A separate tank in the vehicle that stores the AdBlue solution.

2. Injector: A nozzle that injects the AdBlue solution into the exhaust system.

3. Catalyst: A component that contains a material called a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst, which facilitates the chemical reaction between AdBlue and NOx.

4. Control unit: A computer that monitors the engine and exhaust system and regulates the injection of AdBlue solution.

With the engine running, the exhaust gas passes through the catalyst, where the AdBlue solution is injected. The AdBlue then reacts with the NOx in the exhaust gas, breaking it down into nitrogen and water vapour (steam).

Any one of the above listed components can require AdBlue repair. 

The AdBlue system does not affect the running or performance of the engine itself, it purely exists for emissions control reasons.
