We were recently visited by this awesome VW Amarok 3.0 V6. The customer had already purchased a competitor’s tuning box, however they had a feeling it wasn’t delivering their quoted gains. Connecting only at the fuel rail, with no boost connection at all, we also saw its limitations.

We soon had it strapped up on the rollers to put it to the test.

It’s also worth mentioning here, that these vehicles currently have a locked ECU with no way to read or write the ECU data. This means that while traditional remapping is impossible, our tuning box can give owners the opportunity to make fantastic gains without requiring a traditional ECU flash. This has the added benefit of being traceless once removed for warranty purposes.

We first ran the stock test, showing the results on the graph below. Nothing too much to note, a pretty standard stock run can be seen. Power coming in roughly spot on the mark at 237hp, whilst torque running slightly higher at 625Nm, from a 600Nm manufacturer quoted figure, but nothing too out of the ordinary.

We then re-installed the competitor’s tuning box the customer had doubts about, and tested to see what gains had been made. Taking a look at the dyno graph below you can see that it was only making a 7hp gain with only 21Nm of torque, as well as making a slight loss in power early in the rev range. You can imagine the customer was not impressed, given that this package of tuning box and pedal box cost over £760.

We therefore removed this hardware and installed our specifically designed Pro + Boost SENT tuning box, partnered with our own pedal box instead. For a significantly lower price, we can now see healthy gains across the rev range, with a significant increase in power and torque, really transforming how the Amarok feels to drive.

Peak power was increased from 237hp at stock, up to 270hp with our box. If you take a look at the dyno graph below you can see the change in that curve (dotted red and blue lines). Bringing that power in as soon as possible, whilst holding across that entire section of the rev range, it really transforms how that power is delivered.

Torque with our box also saw a great improvement. Moving that stock figure of 625Nm up to 704Nm with the box. If you take another look at the dyno graph (solid lines), you can again see how we lift that torque and hold throughout the entire rev range.
