In our latest dyno test we had this 2021 MK8 VW Golf GTD in for tuning and testing. After quick installation of our specifically designed Pro + Boost SENT chip tuning box, it was up on the rollers to see what the engine could achieve.

Most similar engines from VAG which are 2021 onwards, can sometimes be tricky when it comes to tuning, whether that be a remap or a tuning box. This is down to the fact that the data transmission protocol is in the form of digital signals, rather than the standard analogue signals. Our SENT tuning boxes are carefully designed in that way, so that they operate within the parameters of this technology, whilst still giving you great performance gains.

Dyno testing before and after shows healthy gains across the rev range, with a significant increase in power and torque, really transforming how the Golf feels to drive.

Peak power was increased, as we were able to lift it from 199hp at stock, up to 250hp with the box. If you take a look at the dyno graph below you can really see how we change that curve (dotted red and blue lines). If look around the 2500rpm mark, you can really see how we start to apply that power, pushing right through that whole section of the rev range. At around the 3750rpm mark, you’ll see that huge difference between the two curves.

Torque also saw some great improvements. At stock the engine produced 396Nm and now 474Nm with the box. If you take another look at the graph (solid lines), it’s a similar story, where you can really see where we have applied those gains. The whole section of that mid-range has been raised, showing real consistency, and leading to much improved driveability feeling much smoother through gear changes.
