Here we have some lost footage, salvaged after we had upgraded our rolling road set up to our new 4wd dyno. This dyno test was completed on our previous 2wd dyno, just before we had it swapped out, but we thought to share it as the results are quite important…

We tested this 2019 Honda Civic 1.5 VTEC whilst it was running full 99RON fuel, and were able to adjust our Pro Petrol box accordingly to get some pretty impressive results. The gains that were made, were significantly greater than previous testing on this engine, proving that octane rating can really make the difference.

Dyno testing before and after shows healthy gains across the rev range, with a significant increase in power and torque, really transforming how the Civic feels to drive.

Peak power was increased, as we were able to lift it from 198hp at stock, up to 240hp with the box. Stock figures running higher than manufacturer quoted of 182hp, but that’s the real testament to the difference you’ll see running 99RON fuel. If you take a look at the dyno graph below you can see how we change that curve (solid red and blue lines). We give real consistency here, bringing that extra power in as soon as possible, whilst holding it for as long as possible throughout the rev range.

Torque also saw some great improvements. At stock the engine produced 270Nm and now 320Nm with the box. If you take another look at the graph (dotted lines), you can really see where we have applied those gains, allowing those torque improvements to be applied through the revs, giving that increase exactly where it’s needed. Pay attention to the whole of that mid-section, where you can really see the increase compared with stock, as our tuned run continues to climb, in the places where the stock torque had already begun to level out.
