BMW G81 M3 Competition Touring 2024 - Locked ECU Dyno Test - S58 510hp Performance Tuning

In our latest dyno test we had the pleasure of tuning and testing this incredible 2024 BMW G81 M3 Comp Touring. It goes without saying that it’s always great fun when we have a true ‘M’ car up on the rollers. As you can see, this was no different, as the G81 definitely has super unique styling. So it was a quick installation of our 3 Channel Pro Petrol chip tuning box, it was up on the rollers to see what the engine could achieve.

Now as you’ll have seen in some of our recent videos, the recurring issue that all 2021+ BMW drivers are facing, is the tuning limitations due to the locked ECU. This 2024 G81 M3 is no different and currently has no way to read or write the ECU data. This means that while traditional remapping is impossible, our tuning module offers the perfect solution here, providing fantastic gains without requiring a traditional ECU flash. This also has the added benefit of being traceless once removed for warranty purposes.

Firstly, we complete a stock run with the car at a completely stock level of mapping, to see what the car was running from factory. You can see from the dyno graph below that power and torque levels are elevated, showing 521hp with 708Nm of torque, instead of the 510hp and 650Nm which BMW quote. However this isn’t too surprising, when running 99RON fuel we would always expect to get a little bit more than those stock quoted figures.

Dyno testing before and after shows healthy gains across the rev range, with a significant increase in power and torque, really transforming how it feels to drive.

Peak power was significantly increased, as we were able to lift it from 521hp at stock, up to 649hp with the box. If you take a look at the dyno graph below you can see how we change that curve (dotted red and blue lines). We give real consistency here, bringing that extra power in as soon as possible, whilst holding it for as long as possible throughout the entire rev range, adding that +128hp at its peak, really transforming how it feels out on the road.

Torque also saw some impressive improvements. At stock the engine produced 708Nm and now 858Nm with the box. If you take another look at the graph (solid lines), you can really see where we have applied those gains. Again looking across that whole portion of the mid-range, you can really see exactly where its lifted, adding the +150Nm extra at its peak, delivering that increase exactly where it’s needed.
