The standard X5 produced 487 hp and 723 Nm on our rolling road. This establishes the real baseline for the particular vehicle used in our development test.

The facelift BMW X5 xDrive50e combines the legendary 3.0-litre B58 straight-six with electric power. Its newer Vitesco ECU makes conventional remapping challenging — but our plug-in Bluespark Pro Petrol SENT tuning module delivers exceptional gains without opening, unlocking or flashing the ECU.
The 2023 onwards BMW X5 xDrive50e (G05 LCI) is a remarkably complete performance SUV: spacious, comfortable and refined, yet genuinely quick when you want it to be.
Under the bonnet sits BMW's third-generation B58, a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six renowned among enthusiasts for its strong performance and tuning potential. Working alongside it is an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic drivetrain. The result is smooth electric driving for shorter journeys and immediate electric assistance when both power sources work together.
With standard all-wheel-drive xDrive traction and a substantial combined output, it already feels strong in everyday driving. Our goal was not to change the X5's character, but to bring out even more of its strengths: harder acceleration, a broader spread of usable torque and stronger response from the petrol engine.
For the G05 LCI xDrive50e, BMW quotes the following combined plug-in hybrid performance figures:
The petrol engine is rated at 313 hp and the electric motor at 197 hp. These individual ratings are not simply added together to calculate maximum system output. BMW factory claims are different from our independently measured rolling-road figures below.
The X5 xDrive50e's newer Vitesco ECU is one of the main reasons owners come to us. It is not the same ECU as the Bosch MG1 and MD1 units found in many other modern BMWs.
Many post-2020 BMW petrol and diesel models introduced additional ECU security. For some time, modifying the ECU software could mean removing the control unit and sending it to a specialist, such as FEMTO or an unlocking service using AutoTuner tools, before any remap could take place. That made traditional remapping more time-consuming and expensive.
Supported Bosch MG1 and MD1 ECUs can now benefit from newer bench unlocking methods. For certain ECU types, specialists — including Bluespark — can offer local, same-day ECU unlocking and remapping rather than a mail-in process.
Compatibility depends on the exact ECU hardware, software and supported tools: not every post-2020 BMW is covered.
The 2023+ G05 LCI xDrive50e uses a Vitesco engine control unit with a different security architecture. An unlock method developed for a Bosch MG1 or MD1 does not automatically provide access to this ECU.
For the vehicle and ECU generation covered by our testing, conventional read-and-write ECU tuning has not offered the established, straightforward route available for some Bosch units. Our tuning module avoids the need for ECU access altogether.

Our Pro Petrol SENT tuning module works with the engine's live sensor signals. It is connected using a vehicle-specific wiring harness and supplies a carefully developed calibration for the B58 petrol engine. The factory ECU remains installed and its software is not unlocked or overwritten.
The result: meaningful performance increases, proven on our rolling road, with a plug-in system that can be disconnected again if required.
We tested a 2024 BMW X5 xDrive50e on our linked, braked four-wheel-drive dyno, first in stock form and then with the Bluespark Pro Petrol SENT tuning module installed.
This is the evidence behind our recommendations — an actual before-and-after test of the complete hybrid vehicle, not a figure estimated from the product listing.
Power is shown in hp as reported in our X5 rolling-road test; BMW's sales literature and our tuning-box product listing may use PS. Dyno figures vary with test conditions, vehicle condition, battery state of charge and fuel.

The standard X5 produced 487 hp and 723 Nm on our rolling road. This establishes the real baseline for the particular vehicle used in our development test.

With our module installed, the same X5 achieved 601 hp and 856 Nm, gains of 114 hp and 133 Nm without an ECU unlock or remap.
Our tuned test shows a stronger power curve through the rev range, especially from around 4,500 rpm where the standard car's output begins to level off. Added torque also helps make the X5 feel more eager under acceleration and when overtaking.
The module develops the turbocharged petrol engine's performance; it does not remap the electric motor or hybrid battery. The rolling-road figures reflect how this complete plug-in hybrid performed under our specific test conditions.

Your Bluespark module is dispatched with programming specifically for the BMW X5 xDrive50e's B58 petrol engine. You do not need a laptop, an ECU unlock appointment or a separate remapping session.
We supply the correct X5 xDrive50e tuning module and vehicle-specific wiring loom, already configured and ready to fit.
Following our illustrated fitting guide, connect the supplied loom to the indicated boost and MAP sensors. Allow around 10 minutes for a straightforward installation, depending on access and experience.
Secure the module and wiring safely, confirm everything is connected correctly, and the vehicle is ready to use with no ECU software modification.
Our four-page PDF includes photographs, sensor locations, connector instructions and safety checks. Read it carefully before unplugging any sensor connectors.
Important: the guide instructs you to turn off and lock the vehicle and wait five minutes before disconnecting electrical plugs. Follow its full procedure, even if this takes longer than the typical fitting estimate.
Our product guidance recommends keeping the supplied setting C for the first 200 miles before exploring alternative maps. Any modification may have implications for manufacturer warranty or insurance; check your terms.
When tuning a high-performance turbocharged petrol engine such as the B58, fuel quality matters. Higher octane fuel offers better resistance to knock, giving the engine management system more scope to maintain strong performance under load.
We recommend 99 RON petrol for the strongest results from your X5 xDrive50e. The Bluespark module offers selectable maps, including milder options suited to standard pump fuel, but our preferred choice when seeking maximum performance is high-quality premium petrol.
In a separate Bluespark study using BMW G20 330e models, we compared 95 RON and 99 RON fuel in both standard and tuned form. The tuned 330e on 99 RON delivered 399 hp versus 371 hp on 95 RON — a 28 hp difference in that particular test.
This 28 hp comparison is from the BMW 330e fuel experiment, not a fuel comparison performed on the X5 xDrive50e. It illustrates why we recommend premium fuel, rather than predicting an identical difference for the B58.
Use high-quality premium unleaded wherever possible to get the most from your tuned B58.

We tested the X5 xDrive50e on our own linked 4WD rolling road and publish the stock and tuned graphs so you can judge the outcome yourself.
Enjoy meaningful gains on this third-generation B58 without needing a specialist ECU unlock, a replacement ECU or an ECU file flash.
A preconfigured, removable module, clear illustrated fitting instructions, selectable maps, optional Bluetooth and a 28-day money-back guarantee make this a practical performance upgrade.
Yes. Our Pro Petrol SENT tuning module is designed to work with the X5 xDrive50e's B58 petrol engine using live sensor signals. It does not need the factory Vitesco ECU to be unlocked, opened or remapped.
Not by assuming that the same Bosch unlocking procedure will work. Certain Bosch MG1/MD1 units now have supported in-house bench options, whereas this X5 xDrive50e application uses a different Vitesco controller. The availability of future ECU flashing tools can change; contact our workshop for the latest compatibility advice.
Our 2024 X5 xDrive50e increased from 487 hp and 723 Nm in standard form to 601 hp and 856 Nm with the Bluespark module installed. That is an increase of 114 hp and 133 Nm in our own test. Individual results vary.
The product page quotes model-level standard and tuned performance figures in PS and Nm (490 PS/700 Nm to 610 PS/880 Nm). Our project figures are the measured results of one actual X5 in hp and Nm (487 hp/723 Nm to 601 hp/856 Nm). Different units and real-world dyno conditions should not be confused with manufacturer-rated or catalogue figures.
No. The tuning module works with the turbocharged B58 petrol engine. The X5 remains a plug-in hybrid, with its electric drive modes and motor still controlled by BMW's original systems. Our dyno figures show the complete vehicle's performance under the conditions of our test.
The plug-in installation is typically straightforward and may take around 10 minutes depending on experience and access. The module arrives programmed for the X5. No laptop or ECU flash is required. Always follow the full installation PDF, including the five-minute waiting period and safety checks.
For the strongest performance we recommend 99 RON premium unleaded. Selectable module maps provide flexibility where standard fuel is used, but our separate BMW 330e octane tests demonstrate why premium petrol can be worthwhile. Those fuel-test figures are not X5-specific.
Yes. The module and harness are designed to be removable without replacing the factory ECU software. Follow our installation instructions in reverse and always check warranty, insurance and legal requirements when modifying a vehicle.
601 hp and 856 Nm measured in our test. No Vitesco ECU unlock, no ECU flash and no complicated setup — just a vehicle-specific Bluespark tuning module and a stronger, more responsive drive.
