In our latest dyno test we had this awesome 2020 Mercedes-Benz A-Class A200 in for tuning and testing. After quick installation of our 3 Channel Pro Petrol chip tuning box, it was up on the rollers to see what the engine could achieve.

These vehicles currently have a locked ECU with no way to read or write the ECU data. This means that while traditional remapping is impossible, our tuning box can give owners the opportunity to make fantastic gains without requiring a traditional ECU flash. This has the added benefit of being traceless once removed for warranty purposes.

As mentioned in the video below, the model in which we dyno tested here is the 163ps variant. However the A160 and the A180 which are the 109ps and 136ps variants, both use that same engine, which is just ‘tuned down’ for their respective models. This means that we can tap into this retained power, unlocking that potential, and providing you with similar results to what we achieve here, no matter which variant you own.

Dyno testing before and after shows healthy gains across the rev range, with a significant increase in power and torque, really transforming how the A200 feels to drive.

Torque saw some really impressive improvements. At stock the engine produced 270Nm and now 314Nm with the box. Stock figures coming in a little higher than manufacturer quoted at 250Nm, but not particularly unusual to see higher stock figures here, as they can usually push beyond what Mercedes claim. If you take a look at the dyno graph below (solid red and blue lines), and at the 2:00 mark in the video at the bottom of the page, you can see how we explain that curve change, giving much improved torque figures right through that whole mid-section of the rev range.

Peak power was also increased, as we were able to lift it from 162hp at stock, up to 185hp with the box. Taking another look at the dyno graph (dotted red and blue lines), again you can see how we explain the application of the power here. Providing those gains right in the usable area of the rev range, giving a much improved drivability of the car.
