AdBlue, a critical component in modern diesel engines, plays a pivotal role in reducing emissions. But what happens when this seemingly flawless technology throws a curveball in the form of technical issues?

Unfortunately it's not always smooth sailing in the realm of AdBlue, and we are seeing more and more issues arise. It seems that the system in which helps keep the AdBlue in check, is prone to fail. The system consists of several components, including the AdBlue tank, injectors, catalyst, and the control unit.

Now any one of those components can require repair. This can be down to cracked AdBlue tanks causing leaks, faulty or worn injectors or an error within the control unit itself. The AdBlue system does not affect the running or performance of the engine itself, it purely exists for emissions control reasons. However, due to the strict emission regulations, most manufacturers have warning procedures if one of these faults occurs. As an example, if you take a leaking tank, causing the AdBlue levels become inconsistent. This will trip the engine management light where it will begin a countdown until the fault is resolved. You’ll often see ‘no restart in 700 miles’, meaning that once 700 miles are driven, the engine will no longer restart.

This is where we can help. We can repair, replace, or remove your vehicle's AdBlue system at a fraction of the cost of main dealer prices. We can perform repairs or replacement of your AdBlue Dosing pump, we can repair faults to your vehicle's AdBlue heating element, or we can simply remove the AdBlue system altogether or perform an ‘AdBlue Delete’ as it’s sometimes known.

We recently had this DS 3 visit us at Bluespark HQ. The customer was experiencing the dreaded AdBlue warning ‘no restart in X miles’ on the dashboard, despite this being fully topped up.

Rather than face a bill of thousands from a main dealer, the customer opted to go for one of our AdBlue solutions, eliminating the problem.

At the same time we performed a stage 1 remap, lifting the car from 100hp to 130hp and 254Nm to 330Nm torque.

The customer left super happy that the AdBlue fault had been resolved and that they had that extra power and torque to enjoy.
